Honda Civic Type R sets new record on Magny-Cours GP circuit
Honda did it again with the new Civic Type R and broke another FWD track record – this time on Magny-Cours GP circuit in France.
With 2 minutes and 1.51 seconds, the Japanese hot hatch is officially the fastest front wheel drive production car around Magny-Cours GP. The record was set in standard production car with road tyres with Esteban Guerrieri (WTCR driver) behind the wheel.

According to Honda’s press release, the Japanese hot hatch will attempt to break records at 5 legendary European race circuits in 2018, that include Estoril (Portugal), Hungaroring (Hungary), Silverstone (England) and Spa-Francorchamps (Belgium).
The driver line-up for the other circuit record attempts will include former Formula 1 World Champion and current NSX Super GT driver Jenson Button (UK), WTCR driver Tiago Monteiro (Portugal), NSX Super GT star Bertrand Baguette (Belgium) and BTCC legend Matt Neal (UK).
As a reminder, the Honda Civic Type R (FK8) is still the fastest front-wheel drive production car around the Nürburgring Nordschleife, with a lap time of 7min 43.8sec set in April 2017.
