Description

The first generation of the Ford Focus is a C-Segment car launched in 1998, replacing the Escort nameplate.

The performance version of the model – the Ford Focus ST170, launched in 2002, developed for international markets by a joint SVE/SVT global team. The car was fitted with a naturally aspirated 2.0 liter engine, producing 170 hp (127 kw) and 196 Nm of torque. Mechanical upgrades over the stock version included high flow aluminium cylinder head, variable valve timing, dual stage intake manifold, stainless steel exhaust system and exhaust manifold by Cosworth, sports catalytic converter, larger brakes (300 mm front and 280 mm rear), a reworked Getrag 6 speed manual gearbox and close-ratio steering rack. Thanks to the power upgrades, the ST170 accelerated from o-100 km/h in 8,2 seconds and could reach a top speed of 220 km/h (137 mph).

Visually, the car was distinguished by the sporty and body colored bumpers, the unique fog lights, the 17 inch multi-spoke alloy wheels, the redesigned headlights, the honeycomb grille and the ST170 badge at the back. Inside, it had leather Recaro seats, sporty gearknob and aluminium style finish on small details.
