Honda Civic Type R MK3 (FN2)
Description
The 8th generation of the Honda Civic was launched in 2005 as a C-Segment model in hatchback, sedan and coupe bodystyles. The performance version of the model was the Civic Type R MK3 (FN2) launched in 2007 as a three-door hot hatchback.
The model was fitted with a slightly updated version of the naturally aspirated 2,0-litre i-VTEC engine found in the previous EP3 generation, now featuring an electronic throttle valve and producing 201 hp / 148 kW of power and 193 Nm of torque. Other improvements over its predecessor was a stiffer chassis, larger brakes and 225/40 YR18 tyres, even though Honda opted for a less sophisticated torsion beam axle rear suspension instead of the EP3’s double-wishbone setup. The FN2 accelerated from 0-100km/h in 6,6 seconds and could reach a top speed of 235 km/h.
Visually, the car was distinguished from the rest of the Civic range thanks to its wider tracks, deeper bumpers, larger air intakes, side skirts, rear spoiler and the unique 18-inch alloy wheels. Inside, it featured sporty seats upholstered in Alcantara with red stitching, leather steering wheel, aluminium gear shift knob, sporty dials and metal switch panels.
