Renault Megane IV RS
The fourth generation of the Megane is a C-Segment car launched at the 2015 Frankfurt Motor Show while the top of the range Renault Megane IV RS premiered at the 2017 Frankfurt Motor Show.
The car is fitted with a new 1.8 liter TCE turbocharged engine producing 205 kw (280 hp) and 390 Nm of torque, allowing an acelleration from 0-100 km/h in 5,8 seconds and a top speed of 255 km/h (158 mph). The car is available with a 6 speed manual or EDC gearbox (with steering wheel-mounted gearshift paddles) and Sport or Cup chassis with differences on the springs, shock absorbers, stops and anti-roll bar stiffness. It also featured 4Control technology that turns the rear wheels either in the same or in the opposite direction of the front wheel steering as well as an independent steering-axis front suspension (like the previous generation). The suspension of the fourth generation Megane RS is revamped with a new and more rigid front axle and hydraulic compression stops to all four shock absorbers. The sport chassis comes with new shock absorbers and an electronically-controlled torque distribution system. The Cup chassis offers a 10% stiffer damper system and a new Torsen® mechanical, limited slip differential with modified settings compared with the previous generation. Finally, the braking system has also been improved with increased front brake disc diameter (355mm).
Visually the Megane IV RS has a redesigned bodykit that includes sporty front bumper with enlarged air intakes, an F1-style front blade, honeycomb pattern grill mesh, R.S. Vision LED lighting system, wider front and rear arches (60 mm at the front and 45 mm at the back), new side sills, new rear spoiler, redesigned rear bumper with a diffuser and a central exhaust and new RS specific colours (Tonic Orange, Sirius Yellow etc). The Cup version is distinguished by the red Brempo brake calipers.
Inside the car featured sports front seats with built-in head rests, two choices of upholstery (Charcoal weaved fabric or Alcantara), red top-stitching, aluminium pedals, specially-designed gearshift lever and R-Link 2 touchscreen tablet with MULTI-SENSE modes (Comfort, Normal, Sport, Race, Perso) and R.S. Monitor.
Renault expanded the range of its C-Segment hot hatchback with the more powerful Renault Megane IV R.S. Trophy in 2018 and the track-focused Megane IV R.S. Trophy-R in 2019 which broke the front-wheel-drive production car record at the Nürburgring.
