Chris Slater –Honda Civic Type R EP3 (facelift)

After I sold my modified Renault Megane II RS 230 R26 in parts (see below), I moved on to building something that I’d had an itch to do for a while. So along came a premier edition Honda Civic Type R EP3. Luckily, I found one on my doorstep, pretty much in my favourite colour cosmic grey. I went to view and it came home with me.
Over the next few months, I slowly gathered bits to do a turbo conversion on the car. As fun as it was n/a with the 9000rpm rev limiter, it just wasn’t enough. Once I had all the bits, I started pulling it apart and fitting the turbo kit over a weekend. This car is now my new daily driver. Spec to date as follows:

Took the car over to Gordon Darby at street racers in Leicester who did a wicked job mapping it. We ended up leaving it at 492 bhp and 309 ft/lb @ 1bar and had the boost solenoid on a switch to run on gate pressure day to day 400bhp.

My name is Chris Slater, im from stoke on trent, staffordshire, Uk.
I bought the car almost 4 years ago as a stock Megane R26 in liquid yellow. Its number is 298.
The car went through various stages of tune on the stock motor then i pulled it out and built it to where its at today with the help of friends Adam bridgwood, Jack logan and Jordan Lonczyk. Engine was built by Phil Nichols at Flintshire Performance Engines and all my tuning work done by Paul at RSTuning in Leeds.
fully forged, pec rods, Wossner pistons, king bearings, arp bolts throughout, ported head with cat valve springs and cat 402 full race cams. All three mounts are Vibra Technics, custom fuel rail with 630 injectors, Aeromotive compact fuel pressure regulator, currently running an Rstuning spec td04hl 20t hybrid turbo, 11 blade billet comp wheel, Airtech 95mm intercooler, big boost pipe kit, Mocal oil cooler and stat, a/c delete, 3″ decat and 3″ piper exhaust system, helix clutch and billet flywheel, OEM limited-slip diff. Currently producing around 380bhp and 380+ftlb
Boot mounted external fuel system, aem 380lph pump, 1.5ltr swirl pot, Aeromotive pre-pump 100-micron filter, post-pump 30-micron filter, all fuel lines are Teflon braided.
Bc br 32 way coilovers, the cars polybushed throughout also. Braided brake lines, Feroddo ds1.11 pads, k sport 8 pot callipers, 330mm floating discs, type 200 fluid, It has 18×8 oz alleggerita hlt lightweight alloys wrapped in federal 595RSR semi-slicks in 235/40
Oem Recaro’s upfront, boost gauge, oil temp and pressure gauges aem wideband. Air intake temp gauge, fuel pump cut off switch. Sabelt steering wheel, rear has the seats removed, when seats are out it has a full-length boot mat.
Carbon bonnet, carbon spoiler, carbon door bullets, carbon rear wiper blank and headlight washer blanks, bumper drilled for oil cooler.
UPDATE: The Megane ended up with a bigger turbo setup and 850 injectors. Went with a ktec racing tubular manifold, downpipe, G25-660. 72 turbo, custom intake, tial 38mm external wastegate and screamer pipe. The car made 514hp and was crazy up until it let an intake valve go smashing a hole in the piston, taking the cams and turbo out with it. I decided to break the car for parts and sold the shell which still lives on as far as I’m aware.
