Under the bonnet of the Ford Focus RS MK3, the four-cylinder 2.3-liter engine produced 257kw / 345 hp / 350 PS and 470Nm of torque in stock form, which at the time made it the most powerful hot hatch on sale. Today, this title belongs to the Mercedes-AMG A 45 S 4MATIC+ fitted with the most powerful four-cylinder engine in a production-car producing 310 kW / 416 hp / 421 PS and 500 Nm of torque.
Mountune always offered impressive tuning kits for Ford RS and ST models. Until now, the most powerful option was the m520 MRX power upgrade kit for the Focus RS MK3, which offered 382 kW / 520 PS of power and 700 Nm of torque. This was quite impressive however Mountune engineers didn’t rest on their laurels. Their latest video show engine testing with 510 kW / 692 PS of power and 767 Nm of torque thanks to a BorgWarner EFR 8374 turbocharger and MRX cylinder head.
We don’t know if the company plans to put this extreme kit into production, however they stated that they keep working on it. Either way, squeezing almost double amount of power from an already powerful hot hatch engine is worth celebrating.
