Honda Civic Type-R in golden wrap for the company’s 50th anniversary in Australia

Honda is celebrating their 50 years in Australia by creating a range of one-off products dressed in golden wrap – with the mighty Honda Civic Type R (FK8) among them.

We didn’t expect to say that but the Japanese hot hatch looks cool with the shiny golden colour contrasting the black finish on the wheels, roof, grille, intakes and rear wing.

Besides the  Honda Civic Type R (FK8) , there is an NSX, a CBR1000RR Fireblade, a CRF450L (enduro) and a CRF50F (children’s bike), a HRU18 Buffalo (lawnmower) and an EU22i (generator).

The golden wraps were applied by Melbourne-based Vinyl Wraps and Graphics and consist of a gold chrome film, laminated with a clear satin film. The special editions are designed as one-offs with the goal to “inspire, thank and connect with Honda Australia customers” so they won’t be available for purchase.

Since February 4, 1969, Honda Australia has sold more than five million products.

Hiroyuki Shimizu, CEO of Honda Australia told Caradvice: “We’re looking forward to showcasing these amazing golden products around the country throughout 2019, so stay tuned for more information on that front.” As for the technology of the future, he added: “What is crucial to us in the midst of the technology evolution, however, is that we don’t lose the human touch. Electrification, connectivity and autonomous developments are all in the future, but we must always ensure that we connect with our customers and deliver an experience that reflects the heartbeat of Honda.”
