Mercedes-AMG A45 teases its drifting mode

For those who are tired of the traditional “Christmas” videos, Mercedes-AMG prepared something more interesting – a teaser with the upcoming A45 (W177) testing its drifting skills around a wet track.

The top of the range C-Segment hot hatch is expected to produce more than 294 kw / 400 hp from its twin-turbocharged 2.0 liter engine, mated to an 8-speed dual clutch gearbox. The updated 4MATIC system will transfer the power to all four wheels and as you can see from the video it will also feature some kind of drift mode, allowing the German hot hatch to be rear wheel biased, offering plenty of fun around the track.

The prototype is camouflaged with a fancy livery so we can’t really see the whole picture, however we know it will have a little more aggressive bumpers and aero pack compared to the less powerful but still impressive Mercedes-AMG A35 (W177)¬†that went on sale a few months ago.

The new Mercedes-AMG A45 (W177) is expected to launch during the first half of 2019, replacing the current Mercedes-AMG A45 (W176) which dates back to 2013 with a facelift in 2015.
