BMW 130i M-Package
Description
The first-generation BMW 1 Series (E81-E87) is a compact executive car produced by the German automaker BMW since 2004, when it replaced the BMW 3 Series Compact as the smallest and least expensive vehicle in the BMW range.
The 130i M-Package (2005-2009) was the fastest version of the rear wheel drive hatchback which had a 50:50 weight balance, aluminum multilink suspension and a longitudinally-mounted six-cylinder engine. The 2,996cc unit produced 265hp (195 kw) and 315 Nm of torque and enabled the German hot hatch to deliver a 0-100km/h time of 6.1 seconds while top speed was limited to 250km (155mph). Power was transmitted exclusively to the rear wheels via a standard six-speed manual gearbox while Active Steering (a system that varies the steering radio depending on road speed) is offered as an option.
On the outside, the M Sport models have a lower front spoiler, sculpted side sills and a venturi cut-out in the rear bumper, designed for increased aerodynamic efficiency. Finally the 18 inch wheels and the lowered M Sports suspension complete the package. On the inside, this version was equiped with sports seats in a cloth/eather combination, M leather steering wheel, M door-sills and anthracite headlining.
