Citroen Saxo VTS (facelift)
Description
The Citroën Saxo VTS was launched in 1998, replacing the AX GTi as the hot hatch version of Citroën’s city car. Besides the body panels and the interior, the car shares most of it’s parts with the Peugeot 106 Rallye.
The Saxo VTS featured a 1.6 liter 16V engine producing 120hp (88kw) which allowed a top speed of 205km/h (127mph) and a sprin from 0-100km/h in 8.7 seconds. A different style of control arms and struts was used for the suspension. The car also had larger anti roll bars (19mm) at the front and (22mm) at the rear.
On the exterior, the sportier derivatives of the Saxo were equiped with flared fenders and different bumpers that in combination with the lowered suspension, helped them stand out from the rest.
Citroën Saxo VTS (facelift) or MK2, was launched in 2000 with a redesigned grille and modern headlights. The car had identical peformance figures with its predecessor and in 2003 it was finally replaced by C2 VTS.
