Ford Fiesta MK6 ST/XR4

Description

In 2002, the all new Fiesta MK6 was unveiled. This was for the first time, a completely clean sheet design, with no genetic links to the 1976 original. The styling was heavily inspired by the larger Focus.

The Ford Fiesta MK6 ST (XR4 in Australia) is the performance variant that was launched in 2004 Geneva Motor Show. The car featured a naturally aspirated 2.0L petrol engine, which produced 150hp (110kw) and was capable of speeds of up to 130 mph (210 km/h).

The exterior differed from the standard Fiesta thanks to the redesigned bumpers, the 17″ alloy wheels and the racing stripes. Inside the car had leather sport seats and the ST logo on the steering wheel.

The Fiesta MK6 range received a facelift in 2006. Although not mechanically different, there are a number of subtle cosmetic changes including redesigned headlights and tailights, which have helped improve and modernize the car’s look. Inside, the dashboard has been updated with new “soft feel” plastics and the digital fuel readout has been ditched in favor of a new analogue instrument display.
