Ford Ka was introduced in September 11, 1996 as a small and low-cost addition to the Ford range, following the enlargement of the Fiesta, based on the same platform as the MK4 Fiesta, but with a radically different exterior design.
In 2003, the Ka brand was diversified, with the addition of a new SportKa featuring a sporty body kit, wider track with stiffened suspension and redesigned 16″ (40 cm) alloy wheels. The car was fitted with a 1.6-litre Duratec petrol engine producing 95 hp (70 kW).
