Description

The 8th generation of the Honda Civic was launched in 2005 as a C-Segment model in hatchback, sedan and coupe bodystyles. The performance version of the model was the Civic Type R MK3 (FN2) launched in 2007 as a three door hot hatchback.
The model was fitted with a slightly updated version of the naturally aspirated 2,0 litre i-VTEC engine found in the previous EP3 generation, now featuring an electronic throttle valve and producing 201 hp / 148 kw of power and 193 Nm of torque. Other improvements over its predecessor was a stiffer chassis, larger brakes and 225/40 YR18 tyres, even though Honda opted for a less sophisticated torsion beam axle rear suspension instead of the EP3’s double wishbone setup. The FN2 accelerated from 0-100km/h in 6,6 seconds and could reach a top speed of 235 km/h
Visually, the car was distinguished from the rest of the Civic range thanks to its wider tracks, deeper bumpers, larger air intakes, side skirts, rear spoiler and the unique 18 inch alloy wheels. Inside, it featured sporty seats upholstered in Alcantara with red stitching, leather steering wheel, aluminium gear shift knob, sporty dials and metal switch panels.
