Description

The first generation of the Mazda 3 MPS / Mazdaspeed 3 (BK) was launched at the 2006 Geneva Motor Show as a 5 door hot hatchback.

The car was fitted with a 2.3 liter DISI MZR I4 engine producing 255 hp (190 kw) and 380 Nm of torque, combined with a 6 speed manual gearbox. The Mazda 3 MPS was the most powerful front wheel hot hatchback of its time and it featured stiffer body shell and a suspension with 60 percent improvement in roll stiffness over the base model. To cope with all that power, a GKN limited slip differential was standard along with larger anti-lock brakes, traction control and dynamic stability control. The car completed the 0-100 km/h sprint in 6,1 seconds while it could reach a top speed of 255 km/h (140 mph).

Visually, the Mazda 3 MPS / Mazdaspeed 3 (BK) featured a redesigned bodykit that included a lower bumper at the front with larger air intakes, 18 inch wheels, side skirts, a more prominent rear bumper and a rear roof spoiler. Inside, it had logo embodied racing seats, bose stereo system, signature red-stitched seams, logo sill-plates and aluminium GT-style pedals.
