MINI Cooper S (R56)
In 2006, the second generation of the MINI was launched with a completely new body design based on a re-engineered platform, new interior and updated selection of engines.
The performance version – Mini Cooper S MK2 (R56) was powered from a new intercooled and turbocharged four-cylinder 1.6-litre engine producing 175 hp (228 kw) of power and 240 Nm of torque. The car also featured new suspension designed to deliver a more comfortable ride without losing the trademark MINI ‘go-kart’ experience. It accelerated from 0-100 km/h in 7,1 seconds and had a top speed of 225 km/h (140 mpg).
Visually the car differentiated from the base model thanks to the hood scoop which was not functional any more (due to the relocation of the intercooler), different grille and air intake, larger wheels and centrally located double exhaust pipes.
The car received a mild facelift in 2009 and in 2014 was replaced by the third generation (F55/F56).
