Description

The Opel Astra H OPC was launched in 2005, as the performance version of the Astra H. The model was also available in Australia as the Holden HSV VXR Turbo which was a rebadged version imported from Belgium.

The car was only available as a three door hatchback and was fitted with a 2.0 liter turbocharged gasoline engine producing 177 kw/ 240 hp and 320 Nm of torque. Power was transmitted to the front wheels through a close-ratio six-speed manual gearbox. It accelerated from 0 to 100 km/h in 6.4 seconds, and could reach a top speed of 244 km/h. The Opel Astra H OPC was equiped with IDSPlus (Interactive Driving System) with electronic networking of all driving dynamics systems including the electronic stability program ESPPlus, and traction control TCPlus , as well as numerous features of the high performance brakes. Another major element in this network is the electronic CDC (Continuous Damping Control), that ensures that the damping characteristics are automatically and continuously adapted to the current road conditions, the movements of the vehicle and the individual driving style. Additionally, the driver has the possibility to select an even sportier setting by pushing the “SportSwitch”.

Visually, the Astra OPC can easily be identified from the base model thanks to the redesigned bumpers, the deep front spoiler and large central engine cooling-air intake, the large-sized 18 inch wheels and the centrally located tailpipe. Inside, Recaro sport seats were available in two leather/fabric combinations, sporty instruments in OPC design, and aluminum pedals all contributing to a sporty atmosphere.
