Peugeot 309 GTI 16
The Peugeot 309 is a C-Segment car that was manufactured between 1985 and 1994 in England, Spain and France by PSA Peugeot Citroën.
The top of the range performance version – the Peugeot 309 GTi – was fitted with a 1905 cc XU9 engine, producing 130 hp (96 kW), later detuned at around the time of the facelift to 122 hp (90 kW) to conform with 95 octane unleaded and emissions regulations. The car featured an uprated suspension and a short geared 5-speed manual transmission that combined with the weight of only 930 kg, allowed it to accelerate from 0-100km/h in 8,0 seconds and reach a top speed of 206 km/h (128 mph).
The more powerful version – Peugeot 309 GTi16 was a late addition to the range featuring the 1.9 liter 16V PSA XU XU9J4 engine producing 160 hp (118 kW) (from the 405 Mi16/Citroën BX 16V). It also included slightly uprated suspension (stiffer rear torsion bars, and wider track width both front and rear).
Visually, the car was distinquished by a large black spoiler, fog lights, unique alloy wheels, tinted glass, deeper front bumper, leather steering wheel and adjustable headlights.
