Renault Clio II RS 172

Description

The second generation of the Renault Clio was a B-segment car launched in 1998.

The first performance version of the second generation, the Renault Clio RS 172, was fitted with a naturally aspirated 2.0 liter 16 valve engine (F4R730) producing 172 hp (124 kw) and 199 Nm of torque, sending the power to the front wheels through a five speed manual gearbox. The car accelerated from 0-100 km/h in 7,3 seconds and could reach a top speed of 220 km/h (137 mph).

Visually, the Clio RS 172 featured redesigned bumpers, side skirts, 15 inch OZ F1 alloy wheels and wider arches. Inside the car had leather/alcantara sport seats with the Renault Sport logo.

In 2001 the car received a major facelift, with a redesigned front and rear bumpers, new headlights with xenon technology, updated tailight graphics and new alloy wheels. The facelifted model also featured mechanical updates on the engine, throttle and gearbox. Finally, in 2004, the car was replaced by the more powerful Clio II RS 182.
