Description

The first generation of the Renault Mégane was unveiled in September 1995, at the Frankfurt Motor Show, as a replacement for the Renault 19 and was available as a 4-door saloon, 5-door hatchback, 3-door coupé, 2-door convertible and 5-door estate. The car was essentially a reskin of its predecessor, and carried over the 19’s floorpan, engines, transmissions and chassis design, albeit with much modification.
The fastest version of the C segment model, was the Renault Megane Coupe 2.0 16v (which was essentially a 3 door hatchback). The car was fitted with a naturally aspirated 2.0 liter engine (F7R) producing 148 hp (110 kw) and Nm of torque, allowing a 0-100km/h acceleration time of 8,6 seconds and a top speed of 215 km/h (134 mph).
In 1999 the car received a facelift that included redesigned bumpers, new headlights and tailights as well as a new bonnet and grille.
