Renault Megane IV RS Trophy

Description

The fourth generation of the Megane is a C-Segment car launched at the 2015 Frankfurt Motor Show. It’s hot hatch version, the Renault Megane IV R.S., was launched in 2017, followed by the more powerful Trophy version in 2018.

The Renault Megane IV R.S. Trophy is fitted with a more powerful version of the 1.8 liter TCE turbocharged engine producing 224 kw / 300 hp and 420 Nm of torque (400 Nm for the manual) thanks to an upgraded turbocharger. The engine can be combined with either the 6 speed manual or EDC dual clutch gearbox that send the power to the front wheels. Like the R.S., the Trophy comes equipped with the 4Control technology that turns the rear wheels either in the same or in the opposite direction of the front wheel steering as well as an independent steering-axis front suspension. Furthermore, the Cup chassis (that includes 25% firmer suspension, 30% tighter springs, 10% stiffer anti-roll bars, and a Torsen® mechanical limited slip differential) is standard, while the car features enhanced bi-material front brake discs (1,8 kg lighter per wheel), high performance Bridgestone Potenza S001 tyres and a new dual sound exhaust valve system.

Thanks to the power upgrades and the slightly lower weight of 1419 kg, the R.S. Trophy features slightly improved specs, accelerating from 0-100 km/h in 5,7 seconds (with the manual gearbox) and reaching a top speed of 260 km/h (162 mph).

Visually the Megane IV R.S. Trophy comes with the wide bodykit of the R.S.,  that includes sporty front bumper with wider air intakes and F1-style front blade, honeycomb pattern grill mesh, R.S. Vision  LED lighting system, wider front and rear arches (60 mm at the front and 45 mm at the back), new side sills, new rear spoiler, redesigned rear bumper with a diffuser and a central exhaust and new RS specific colours (Tonic Orange, Sirius Yellow etc). Specific 19 inch “Jerez” alloy wheels and trophy lettering on the front bumper distinguish the more powerful version. From 2019, Renault will offer even lighter 19-inch alloys fitted with Bridgestone Potenza S007 tyres, shedding some more weight (2.0kg per-corner).

Inside, the car features optional Recaro front seats with Alcantara® upholstery, red top-stitching, aluminium pedals, specially-designed gearshift lever and R-Link 2 touchscreen tablet with MULTI-SENSE modes (Comfort, Normal, Sport, Race, Perso) and R.S. Monitor.
