Description
The second generation Seat Ibiza (Typ 6K) was a B-Segment car launched in 1993 and was first Ibiza fully developed and produced under the Volkswagen Group ownership. The car received a minor facelift in 1996 and a major facelift in 1999 (Typ 6K2).
The Seat Ibiza MK2 1.8 16v GTI was the first performance version of the second generation, before the “CUPRA” arrived. It was launched in 1994, fitted with a naturally aspirated 1.8 liter MPI engine producing 129 hp (95 kw) of power and 165 Nm of torque. The Ibiza GTI could accelerate from 0-100 km/h in 8,9 seconds and could reach a top speed of 206 km/h (128 mph). Visually the car was distinguished by the body coloured bumpers with fog lights and plastic extensions, body coloured mirrors and larger 14 inch rims painted in white.
In 1996, Seat launched a more powerful version, the Ibiza MK2 Cupra which was fitted with a new 2.0 liter engine producing 150 hp (110 kw) of power and 180 Nm of torque. Thanks to the power increase, the car could accelerate from 0-100 km/h in 8,3 seconds and could reach a top speed of 213 km/h (134 mph).
