Description
The second generation Suzuki Cultus was launched in 1988 as a B-Segment car available in various bodystyles. The car was sold with different names around the world, including Suzuki Swift, Holden Barina, Chevrolet Metro, Chevrolet Swift, Pontiac Firefly, Maruti 1000, Maruti Esteem, Subaru Justy, Changan and Suzuki Lingyang.
The performance version of the model, was the Suzuki Swift GTi, fitted with a naturally aspirated 1298 cm3 engine producing 101hp (74kw) of power and 113Nm of torque and mated to a 5 speed manual gearbox. That was enough to accelerate the 810kg car from 0-100 km/h in 8,6 seconds allowing it to reach a top speed of 182km/h (113 mph).
Visually, the car was distinguished by it’s body coloured bumpers, fog lights, side sills and different 14 inch rims.
