Volvo C30 T5
The Volvo C30 was a premium C-Segment hatchback, launched in 2006, based on the Ford C1/Volvo P1 platform. The car received a facelift in 2010 and was phased out in 2013.
The performance version of the model was the Volvo C30 T5, fitted with a turbocharged 5 cylinder 2.5 liter engine that produced 230 hp (169 kw) of power and 320 Nm of torque, mated to a 6 speed automatic gearbox. The car accelerated from 0-100km/h in 6,7 seconds and could reach a top speed of 240 km/h (149 mph). Visually, the T5 featured a rear spoiler, bumper, side sill and wheel arches extensions and two exhaust pipes. The R-Design model featured a more sporty appearance thanks to the 17 or 18 inch wheels, R-Design badges, silk metal finish for the grille and mirror caps, side skirts, lower ride height and sporty interior finish.
The Volvo C30 Polestar was launched in 2012 as a limited edition (250 units) of the T5 R-Design model for the US market. It featured an updated version of the turbocharged 5 cylinder 2.5 liter engine that produced 253 hp (186 kw) of power and 370 Nm of torque (via increasing airflow into the combustion chambers and advancing spark timing). Thanks to the power increase, the car accelerated from 0-100km/h in 6,5 seconds and could reach a top speed of 245 km/h (152 mph). Other modifications included spring stiffness increased by 30%, mono-tube design dampers with 20% increased low speed damping, stiffer bushings and a 10% quicker steering ratio. Visually, the Polestar edition included a unique Rebel Blue body colour, body coloured bumper extensions, side sills and wheel arch extensions, 17 inch Styx alloy wheels in matte black, Polestar badges on the rear and sides of the vehicle, LED daytime running lights and power grass sunroof. Inside the car featured sports leather seats, Dolby Pro Logic II Surround Sound, R-Design instrument cluster, aluminium inlays, sports steering wheel and aluminium pedals.
