Volvo V40 T5 R-Design
Description
The Volvo V40 is a premium C-Segment car launched at the 2012 Geneva Motor Show. The car was only available as a 5-door hatchback and received a facelift in 2016.
The performance version Volvo V40 T5 R-Design was fitted with a 2.5 litre Volvo B525 I5 producing 254 hp (187 kw) and 400 Nm of torque, mated to a 6 speed automatic gearbox. The car accelerated from 0-100 km/h in 6,5 seconds and could reach a top speed of 250 km/h (155 mph). It also came with a Sport chassis developed in cooperation with Swedish racing driver Robert Dahlgren in the Volvo Polestar Black R team, featuring 10 mm lowered suspension, firmer springs and shock absorbers (McPherson struts at the front and Monotube dampers at the rear) and larger anti-roll bars.
Visually the car was distinguished by the silk metal framed high gloss grille, the rear diffuser, the twin exhaust pipes, the 18 inch five spoke wheels and the unique blue paint. Inside the car came with sport seats upholstered with Nubuck textile and perforated leather, R-Design badging and aluminium inlays.
The car was replaced in 2014 by the updated Volvo V40 T5 R-Design Drive-E with a new 2.0 liter engine.
