VW Golf III GTI 150
Description
The third generation of the Volskwagen Golf was a C-Segment car launched in 1991.
The Golf III GTI 115 launched in 1991, fitted with a 8 valve SOHC 1984 cc engine that produced 115 hp (85 kw) of power and 166 Nm of torque, combined with a 5 speed manual gearbox. The car accelerated from 0-100 km/h in 10,4 seconds and could reach a top speed of 196 km/h (122 mph), being slightly slower than its predecessor due to the 1090 kg weight. It featured larger brakes, lowered and stiffer suspension than the base model. Visually, the GTI was distinguished by a red line in the semi-body coloured bumpers, plastic extensions on the wheel arches, tinted tailights, 15 inch alloy wheels and a rear spoiler.
The mechanically updated VW Golf III GTI 150 launched in 1993 with a 16 valve version of the 2.0 liter engine producing 150 hp (110 kw) of power and 180 Nm of torque. Thanks to the power upgrades the car accelerated from 0-100 km/h in 8,7 seconds and could reach a top speed of 215 km/h (133 mph). It also featured slightly larger brakes and ABS as standard.
The car was phased out in 1998, and was replaced by the Golf IV GTI.
