Yesterday, Renault Sport unveiled the new Megane IV R.S. Trophy together with a short video, in which Nico Hülkenberg races the car on the track against a Renault RS18 Formula 1 car.
The F1 driver who is also an ambassador for Renault Sport models, said about the new hot hatchback: “I have been involved in the Mégane R.S. development process since last year and I’m very pleased to see an even sportier version added to the family! Each of the new features on New Renault MÉGANE R.S. TROPHY offers greater sports performance and feel. It’s obviously positive to have more power and better grip through the tyres and to benefit from improved braking endurance. I also enjoyed the feeling offered by the new seats: the support they provide for sports driving is excellent.”
The 1.8 liter TCE engine in the R.S. Trophy, comes with an upgraded turbocharger, producing 224 kw / 300 hp and 420 Nm of torque (400 Nm for the manual). The car is equipped with the track oriented Cup chassis which includes stiffer suspension and a Torsen® mechanical limited slip differential. Besides the 4Control technology, the Trophy features lighter bi-material front brake discs, 19 inch alloy wheels fitted with high performance Bridgestone Potenza S001 tyres and a new dual sound exhaust valve system.
Thanks to those upgrades, the Trophy can accelerate from 0-100 km/h in 5,7 seconds (manual gearbox) and can reach a top speed of 260 km/h (162 mph).
