Subaru Impreza STI Concept
Subaru announced the Impreza STI Concept car for the upcoming 2019 Tokyo Motor Show and we are excited to hear that the company is at least considering a sporty version of their C-Segment hatchback.
The concept is largely based on the Impreza 2.0i AWD hatchback, but it features a sporty bodykit and a two-tone paint with black roof and black A-pillars. At the front, we can see a slightly revised grille with the STI badge, extra LED daytime running lights above the foglights and a glossy black splitter. On the profile, the black alloy wheels and the extended side skirts spice up things while at the back we find the centrally mounted exhaust pipes. According to the press release, the interior of the car is also upgraded with Bordeaux upholstery and more premium textures.
Unfortunately, Subaru didn’t get into specifics about any mechanical upgrades or the availability of the concept car, but we expect more information at the 2019 Tokyo Motor Show. Probably, the one-off Impreza will be equipped with the Symmetrical All-Wheel Drive system and will use the 2.0 liter boxer engine. The same unit is currently under the bonnet of the production version, producing 115 kw (152hp) of power and 196 Nm of torque.
As a reminder, since the Subaru Impreza WRX STi hatchback (2008-2014) was phased out, the WRX STI moniker is only available with the traditional four-door bodystyle or the five door Levorg wagon.
