With the new year just around the corner, we decided to create a top 10 feature with our favorite owners of 2018. It was very difficult to select only 10 cars, but we based our list on personal preference, photo quality, rating, modifications and rarity, in combination with the cool factor of the cars.
10. Rhys Phillipson and Maddy Ainsley – Suzuki Swift Sport
We start our list with two identical Suzuki Swift Sport from Adelaide (Australia) which were jointly photographed by the skilled “Gorecki Photography”. Their owners, Rhys Phillipson and Maddy Ainsley make the best out of their yellow hot hatches and enjoy every minute behind the wheel.
The next owner comes from the city of Möhlin in Switzerland. Michellefabienne91 owns a rare Seat Leon MK3 Cupra R (number 138 of 799) and drives it around the beautiful roads of Europe. The car is stock, producing 228 kw / 310 hp from a 2.0 TSI engine and is equipped with the 6 speed manual transmission. Visually, the Cupra R is easily distinguishable thanks to the unique bodykit with details finished in copper contrasting with the gray paint.
We always admire a well maintained hot hatch from the 90s and this is a perfect example. Andrea Kecskésová from Slovakia owns an Opel Astra F GSi 16V, and as you can see from the pictures, she keeps it in pristine condition inside-out. The car is fitted with the stock 2.0 liter 16v engine, producing 110 kw / 150 hp and its beautiful bodykit and 15 inch rims shine like they did back in 1992.
We move on to Germany and more specifically the city Speyer, where Andi drives his BMW M140i. The car is fitted with the mightly 3.0 liter, straight six engine with TwinPower Turbo technology, producing 250 kW/340 hp and a maximum torque of 500 Nm which is the most torque ever on a stock hot hatch model. Visually, Andi has modified the car with various BMW M Performance parts and nice touches from AC Schnitzer, Perl Carbon and MorVision.
In number 6 we have another owner from Germany that frequently drives his car around the legendary Nürburgring Nordschleife. Jan Kallien loves his modified Renault Clio III RS 197 R27 which features a long list of visual and mechanical modifications for maximum performance on the track (you can find the full list of his modifications here).
In the 5th place we have Aidan from Wollongon, New South Whales, Australia with his tuned stealthy black VW Golf IV GTi. Today he has replaced it with a mint VW Golf V R32, however we couldn’t exclude his previous car from the our list because of the tasty modifications and the amazing photography skills. (more pictures and information here).
Owner Luke Morgan from Hertfordshire, United Kingdom, takes the 4th place thanks to his tuned Ford Fiesta MK6 ST. Besides a few tasty exterior touches, the car features a long list of modifications under the skin (more here) including a fully forged turbocharged engine that produces 213 kw / 290 hp and 434 Nm of torque.
Kaan Yazgan from Izmir, Turkey, sits on the 3rd place of our list with his tuned Seat Ibiza MK4 Cupra. Thanks to his modifications (more information here), he estimates that the car now produces 179 kw / 240 hp and 305 Nm of torque, claiming an 100-200km/h acceleration time of 11.8 seconds. He also has a beautiful collection of photographs of his Cupra that looks amazing in bright yellow contrasting with black alloy wheels.
The 2nd place goes to Akar Rasheed who lives in Adelaide, Australia, with his Mazda 3 MPS / Mazdaspeed 3 (BL). Akar, who is an active member of the local MPS ADL group, spends a lot of time working on his car, which is fitted with a modified and turbocharged 2.3 liter engine. The beautiful photography (and videography) is the work of YV Media.
And the award for our favorite featured owner of 2018 goes to Chris Slater from Staffordshire, United Kingdomand, and his heavily modified Renault Megane II RS 230 R26. As you can tell from the owner’s description, a lot of time and effort have been invested on this car in order to make it faster and more capable. A fully forged engine produces 283 kw / 380 hp and 515 Nm of torque, while handling has also been improved by coilover springs, larger brakes and new wheels. The most famous and by far the most discussed owner featured on our website is Shmee150 (Tim Burton) from London, United Kingdom, who besides his amazing supercars, also has a Ford Focus RS MK3 Red Edition project car and a Ford Focus RS MK3 Heritage Edition. You can watch a series of videos about his rare hot hatches on his page (here) and follow him on Instagram and Youtube.
