Top 10: Featured Owners of 2020

2020 was a tough year for millions of people around the world. With 2021 just around the corner, we decided to create a top 10 feature with our favorite owners of 2020. As always, it was very hard for us to choose among so many great cars, but we based our list on personal preferences, photo quality, rating, modifications, rarity,  and cool factor. Enjoy!

10. David Béliveau  and Frank B – Ford Focus RS MK3

We start our list with David Béliveau from Quebec, Canada. His white Ford Focus RS MK3 looks amazing with the fender add-ons and the dark painted five-spoke wheels. The photography on his profile is also very inspiring and one of the main reasons we included him in this year’s featured list. Learn more about the car here.

Also on the 10th spot (TIE) is Frank B from Melbourne, Australia with his blue Ford Focus RS MK3. This one has a very long modification list that Frank was kind enough to include in his submission. He has put a lot of work into his AWD hot hatch that is faster and more capable than ever before.  Learn more about the car here.

9. Jonas – Opel Astra J OPC

Jonas from Belgium is a proud owner of an Opel Astra J OPC. The three-door hot hatch that is also known as Vauxhall  (UK) or Holden (AU) Astra VXR, looks amazing in yellow shade combined with black aerodynamic components (splitter, spoiler etc), tinted headlights, blacked-out grille, badges, air intakes, and wheels. Learn more about the car here.

8. Lukasz – Hyundai Veloster N

The next owner is Lukasz from Connecticut, USA, with his  Hyundai Veloster N nicknamed Frosty N with matching plates. The Korean hot hatch looks fresh and sounds amazing. The combination of dark wheels, blacked-out badges, light blue exterior color shade red details make it stand out from the crowd. The wild brother of the i30 N, also has a very uncommon, asymmetrical door layout that gives it more cool factor points. Learn more about the car here.

7. Kyle Walker – Audi RS3 Sportback (MK2)

Kyle Walker from the United Kingdom and his heavily modified Audi RS3 Sportback (MK2) is on the 8th place of our list for 2020. The white Audi with black details has an interesting modification list. The forged five-cylinder engine produces 515 bhp, the lowered coilovers improve handling and the Milltek exhaust makes it louder. Learn more about the car here.

6. James – Seat Ibiza MK4 Cupra (facelift)

The next owner is James from the United Kingdom with his flashy Seat Ibiza MK4 Cupra (facelift). As you can tell from the main picture, James is a huge fan of the Flash from the DC superhero universe and he also loves working on his car. The unique Ibiza features a series of visual modifications, dressed with the colors of his favorite superhero. Learn more about the car here.

5. Ash – Ford Fiesta ST (MK8)

Ash, based in the United Kingdom, owns a very cool Ford Fiesta ST (MK8) and has some serious photography skills. The white exterior colour works great with the black graphics, the bi-tone wheels, the black splitter, and the tinted full-LED headlights, while the Airtech lettering on the front grille reveals that this Fiesta also has a few performance modifications. Learn more about the car here.

4. Red Scorp – Abarth 595 (facelift) Pista

We couldn’t have a top 10 list of hot hatches without including at least one Abarth 595. This year, the featured Red Scorpion comes from Belgium. It is an Abarth 595 (facelift) Pista in Rossa red with black graphics and black wheels, featuring a long list of modifications. Learn more about the car here.

3. Anthony – Renault Megane IV RS Trophy

In the fourth place for 2020 we have Anthony from Ticino, Switzerland, owner of a beautiful Renault Megane IV RS Trophy! Anthony is a long-time owner of Renault Sport hot hatches, but his current one is the fastest and most capable. He loves the way the stock Megane RS Trophy drives, but he is planning on modifying it in the future. Learn more about the car here.

2. James Wong – Volkswagen Golf GTI VII facelift

James Wong is a well-known figure among the car community in Australia, working as an automotive journalist for CarExpert (previously a member of the CarAdvice team). In 2020, he became a proud owner of a Golf GTI which is also his first car. The Golf might be stock, but has a beautiful spec and is an example of a future classic among hot hatches. Read James’ interview here.

1. Cody Walker – Honda Civic Type R (FK8)

In the 2nd place we have a guy that is well known in the petrolhead comunity. Cody Walker is based in California, USA, and owns a tastefully modified Honda Civic Type R (FK8), arguably one of the best front-wheel-drive hot hatches available. The most stand out feature of the car is the polished bronze forged monoblock rims that compliment the fancy bodykit. However, Cody is not all about style as he has also improved the performance of his hot hatch with a few mods. Learn more about the car here.

BONUS. Philippe Duperray – Peugeot 106 Evo

A special sport in the featured owners’ list for 2020 goes to Philippe Duperray from France and his heavily modified Peugeot 106 Evo! This pocket rocket has nothing to do with your usual 106 Rallye or GTi, as it is based on Mitsubishi Evo underpinnings! The 2.3L 4G63 engine has a Garrett GTX3582 Turbo and produces 660+HP of power and 633 LbFt (859 Nm) of torque. To complete the whole package, Philippe has fitted a Carbon Wide Body Kit creating one of the craziest pocket rockets we have ever seen. Learn more about the car here.
