German tuner ABT Sportsline revealed a new package for the VW Golf VII R (facelift) that includes power, handling and visual upgrades, further improving the performance of the all-wheel-drive hot hatch.
Thanks to the ABT Engine Control (AEC) unit, the 2,0 TSI engine produces 257 kW (350 hp) and 440 Nm of torque. This makes for an additional 36 kW (50 hp) and 40 Nm over the stock version. The tuner didn’t provide any details on the performance specs of the model however we expect them to be slightly improved over the 0-100 km/h acceleration of 5,1 seconds (4,9 seconds with the DSG) and the top speed of 250 km/h (155 mph).
Besides the engine upgrades, the company offers the ABT suspension springs or the ABT height-adjustable suspension, which together with the ABT sport anti-roll bar further improve handling.
Visually, ABT offers a variety of alloy wheel designs (ER-F, FR, DR and GR), available in 18″, 19″ and 20″ sizes. The ABT GR 20″ rims feature diamond-machined elements finished in matt or glossy black for a bold look.
Finally, there is a Kempten muffler system which consists of four dark chrome-plate tail pipes with a diameter of 102 mm, delivering a more aggressive sound.
