VW Polo R WRC tuned by Wimmer
Thanks to Wimmer, the 2.0 TFSI engine of the tuned hot hatch produces up to 420 hp / 309 kw of power and 651 Nm of torque, allowing a top speed of 280 km/h (174 mph).
In comparison, the regular VW Polo V R WRC Street with a 2.0 TFSI produced 220 hp/162 kW and 350 Nm of torque, while the lesser VW Polo V GTI with a 1.4 liter TFSI produced 180 hp/132 kw and 249 Nm of torque and the VW Polo V GTI (facelift) with a 1.8 liter TFSI produced 192 hp/141 kw and 320 Nm of torque. This makes the tuned Polo faster and more powerful than the current VW Polo VI GTI which is fitted with a 2.0 TSI producing 200 hp/147 kW and 320 Nm of torque.
Those figures were made possible thanks to a revamped engine software and various upgrades including the turbocharger, air intake, high-pressure pump, fuel pump, K&N air filter, Y-pipe with sport catalytic intercooler and a new exhaust system. For those interested, the whole tuning package costs €10.297.
On the outside, the tuned VW Polo V R WRC Street is distinguished by the fancy wrap, the BBS 18″ wheels shod in 215/35 R18 tires (€2,200) and the stainless steel exhaust pipe. The car sits lower thanks to a KW coilover suspension (€1,699) which also improves the handling.
